While there has been a push to encourage female engagement in STEM fields, young minority female students have few mentors in STEM that look like them. As a black scientist, I am one of the lucky few who have received mentorship from a minority woman. As such, I know first-hand of what having a mentor who looks like you and sees the world from your point of view can have on your personal & career development . Lotus STEMM provides young south Asian girls the opportunity to engage with and receive mentorship from other south Asian STEMMinists and their allies. I fully support any organization that emboldens minority girls to reach their full potential and realize their dreams.
